Beatties Ford Road Father Dust's origin: Charlotte's west side, where the Stand Over Gang formed

Beatties Ford Road is where Father Dust comes from. Tyler Moncrieff, the Charlotte, NC recording artist and producer behind the name, is from this historically Black corridor on the city's west side, where blanket boys formed the Stand Over Gang and HorrorDrill Trap-Rap took root. His independent label, D3FFM3FFR3CORDZ, is rooted here and administered from Dilworth.

The Corridor

The west side road

Beatties Ford Road is a major corridor running northwest from Uptown Charlotte through the city's west side. It is a historically Black corridor with deep roots in Black Charlotte culture, community and street life.

Johnson C. Smith University, a historically Black university founded in 1867, sits on Beatties Ford Road in the Historic West End.

Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the seat of Mecklenburg County. Its west side is where this story starts. Some of Father Dust's own copy spells it Beattie's Ford Road. Same road, same roots.

Stand Over Gang

Loyalty over the alternative

The Stand Over Gang (S.O.G.) formed on Beatties Ford Road, made by blanket boys who chose loyalty over the alternative. It is the origin story. It lives in the music.

Those roots run straight into M3FFMU$iC, the blanket boy collective and genre under the D3FFM3FFR3CORDZ label. Horrorcore trap out of Charlotte, NC. Gritty. Unapologetically M3ff.
